Based in Cologne, Germany, RTW (RTW GmbH & Co KG) has been firmly established in the professional audio market for more than 40 years. Recognized as a leading manufacturer of high-quality instruments and technologies used for the visualization of audio signals, the company’s key products, including RTW Peak Program Meters and the RTW Surround Sound Analyzer, are used in the studios of radio and TV broadcasting companies around the globe.

Founded in 1965 by Rudolf Twelker, who has since retired, RTW began as a small service center repairing audio equipment. Over time, the company’s commitment to improving sound technology quickly helped it develop into one of today’s premier providers of advanced sound studio technology and audio measurement instruments.

Led by its current Managing Director, Andreas Tweitmann, the company’s product portfolio includes multi-channel integrated surround sound visualization systems with TFT displays based on the pioneering Surround Sound Analyzer, a unique technology that is now also used under license in the waveform monitors produced by Tektronix®, a U.S. manufacturer of test, measurement and monitoring equipment.

Additionally, the company’s flagship product, the SurroundControl 31900, is a Linux-based hardware platform with network support, an integrated monitoring controller and a wide range of special functions that includes an HD/SD SDI de-embedder and Dolby® E and Dolby® AC-3 decoder option for seamless integration into the workflow of TV production facilities.

RTW is also a leader in the current global debate on loudness control standards. In addition to providing the products to help the professional audio industry meet current and future standards, the company is also helping to set those standards. Its technical director, Mike Kahsnitz, is a member of the EBU P/Loud group, which is currently deliberating European standards for managing loudness.

RTW has been assessed by TÜV Rheinland Cert GmbH and is certified as meeting the requirements of ISO 9001:2008, the internationally recognized standard for quality management. Finally, in 2010, RTW launched a new corporate strategy positioning the company as a leading manufacturer, with the experience necessary to meet the needs of its customers by offering them innovative, customized solutions powered by the most up-to-date technology.
