Product Description
Setting New Standards: TouchMonitor TM9
The all-new TouchMonitor range is RTW‘s answer to growing requirements in today‘s production, post-production, and broadcast world. Equipped with high-grade 7“ or 9“ touch screens and an easy-to-use GUI, TouchMonitor enters a new level of professional audio metering in terms of precision, performance, efficiency and flexibility.
Simple and flexible
The graphical user interface used in the TouchMonitor TM9 is controlled simply by using your finger or a mouse. Instruments can be scaled, randomly positioned and combined in almost every way for optimized use of available screen space. Even multiple instruments of the same type, assigned to different input channels and configurations, can be displayed simultaneously. Plus, a context-sensitive, on-screen help feature supports the user, allowing him to make setup changes with ease.
Firmware Version 2
A major enhancement is the innovative LRA instrument. It intuitively depicts the Loudness Range (LRA) descriptor specified in EBU R128, elegantly combining the two most critical loudness-metering parameters. In addition, the TouchMonitor V2 firmware offers many more enhancements. These include the new classic PPM-instrument view derived from legendary RTW peak meters featuring gas-plasma displays, and the moving-coil instrument that implements various types of pointer instruments (including an M/S combo display) on the screen. Another new feature is the global keyboard, a customizable keypad that can, among others, be used for issuing global start/stop/reset messages to multiple instruments. It also allows for controlling the TouchMonitor using the integrated GPIO interface.
The current firmware version 2-30 (release of Dec. 8th, 2011) sets up the preconditions to allow TM9 to operate the 3G-SDI interface. For existing units the firmware is available for download. See the Audio Monitors/TouchMonitor TM9 section of the members area.

Instruments
Instruments
Instruments can be scaled, randomly positioned and combined.
This example shows the dual bar display of True Peak and Loudness Meter (left), the EBU Loudness Sum Meter acc. to EBU R128 and other documents (middle), loudness control keys (below), the numerical display of the loudness values S and I (to the right), and the Surround Sound Analyzer (House display, right above) adapted to loudness. All instruments are in one audio group (red marker).
This example shows the Loudness Radar Meter of TC Electronic® (left) with Program Loudness display, the LRA instrument running with "MagicLRA + I + Num" mode in its own group (middle), the Loudness Sum (middle right) of the single channel loudness of a stereo signal displayed with the moving coil instruments (right).
This example shows some extensions of firmware version 2 on one screen: The Moving Coil instruments are switched to BR IIa scale and single channel display (above). The LRA instrument (middle) using "MagicLRA + I + Num" mode displays the integrated Loudness value and the Loudness Range. The PPM (right) uses the Classic mode to simulate the look of RTW's classical peakmeters with gas-plasma displays. The Global Keyboard (below) is a customizable keypad that can be used for issuing global start/stop/reset messages to multiple instruments.
This example shows more combinations and other sizes of the instruments in one group:
In the upper row from left to right is displayed: Loudness Meter with switched on PPM bargraphs, 2-channel Audio Vectorscope and Surround Sound Analyzer.
The lower row shows the Loudness Radar Meter of TC Electronic® on the left and the Real TimeAnalyzer on the right.
With Loudness licence activated (see Options) Loudness measurements acc. to the current standards like EBU R128, ITU-R BS.1770-2/1771, ATSC A/85, ARIB, and SPL measurements can be made. The different groups on the screenshot show some examples. Additional the LRA instrument for the graphical display of the Loudness Range is available.
With Multichannel licence, Loudness licence and SSA licence activated (see Options) the Surround Sound Analyzer visualizes the dynamic behaviour of all display elements enabling you to see the balance of a surround programme intuitively and at a glance. The different groups on the screenshot show some examples.
With Premium PPM licence activated (see Options) additional scales and instruments like Audio Vectorscope or Multi-Correlator (with Multichannel licence) are available. The example shows beside the classical digital scale (group with red marker) the ARD+9 scale (yellow marker), an NHK scale (orange marker), and a Zoom scale (green marker). The Audio Vectorscope is added to the yellow stereo group and the Multi-Correlator to the red 5.1 group. Added are Moving Coil instruments for stereo modes displaying different scales in different arrangements. PPM's additionally can be displayed with segments or in a classic mode to simulate the look of RTW's classical peakmeters with gas-plasma displays.
